When there’s neither time nor energy to seize the unseizable – start with the on board sightseeing. “Northern Venice” excursion is a visitation landmark across the main rivers and canals of Saint Petersburg: grand Neva river, Fontanka river, Kryukov canal, Moyka river, Winter canal. Just in an hour you’ll see all the main sights of the city while our guide will be telling you more than a few exciting stories.
Let’s imagine how it will happen…
Grand Neva river: In the beginning of your journey you will lay your eyes upon the facades of Saint Petersburg. It’s a view to die for, from the luxurious estates of the Neva’s embankment. You will see Peter and Paul fortress – the place of the foundation of our city. Gaze at the glory and subtleness of Summer Garden railing, the very one chanted by a famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.
“Time machine” – Fontanka river. Then our excursion is going to continue along the Fontanka river, where you, as if in a time machine, will see the milestones of city’s development. Sheremetyev’s palace, which was given as a gift for the reclamation of swampy lands, as well as Anichkov palace of Russian Royal family and the commercial apartment buildings of the 19th century will float beside you.
Along Kryukov’s canal past the golden domes. Cruiser will move along Kryukov’s canal into Kolomna district, which used to be the suburbs of the city, and was crowned with the marvelous St. Nicholas Naval cathedral. You will see the center of city’s cultural life – Theatre’s square and famous Mariinskiy theatre.
Architectural glory of Moyka river embankment. Through Kryukov’s canal past the New Holland Island cruiser will sail to Moyka river. You will see Yusoupov’s palace, Count Razoumovskiy’s estate and Stroganov’s palace. You will be stunned by the beauty of St. Isaac’s cathedral, and the names of great Russian citizens will be remembered along our route.
And Neva river again. From Moyka river cruiser will sail to Winter canal, signature place of Saint Petersburg, where the fragment of the last winter palace of Peter the Great and the unique atmosphere of that era remain preserved. And once again you will find yourself in the Neva river aquatorium, where Old Saint Petersburg Stock Exchange and Rostral Columns, Winter palace and Kunstkamera will be seen in their prime glory.
